So we should use any belief in making things better. There was a post I read a billion years ago on tumblr of a person sending "fake" horoscopes to their friends to convince them to go to therapy: stuff like that is great.

@tezoatlipoca I had exactly this discussion with a minor news-paper here from germany. The mindset: we need ads to survive. And tracking would help us to understand how our site is used to make better content.I said: yes, ok, but then I wont read your news. Sorreeee! xD

@oblomov @Wuzzy Video storage is very expensive. 10mins of reading text is less than a megabyte (much less), 10mins of watching video will be much more depending on the bitrate. Even audio streaming can be very expensive very quickly.
