It's a bad year for #roses (normally resistant plants for heat): They wilt shortly after opening and are then scorched by the sun. @CiaraNi What is the purpose of the outdoor sitting area in the midst of an otherwise empty expanse? Are the people gathered there eating, drinking, or waiting for a bus ride to a more pleasant destination? I am going to guess these images are not a part of the “where are we going?” segment of the ethnography exhibit or intentional satire by the curators.

@CiaraNi I am using terms Climate Catastrophe (Katastrofa Klimatyczna) and Global Heating (Globalne Ogrzewanie). I have also noted that Greenhouse Effect is less frequently used by media than it used to.

@CiaraNi @annaf @onlinegoddess The other tricky part is that in countries where ‘proper’ shutters are common, the windows tend to open inwards so that you can have ventilation as well as shade. Most windows here open outwards, partly I’m sure because no-one ever thought we’d be sitting here discussing shutters in northern Europe.

@inquiline i agree. I had vaguely been thinking/feeling this for some time, but especially since hearing that El Nino/La Nina themselves are exacerbated by climate change. Yet, exactly as you say, they are often used in a “it’s natural variability” kind of way, which has an “it’s ok, all normal” effect, definitely. Though this time with the #SuperElNino discourse a tiny bit different perhaps.

Can we name it the "new Monsun", after about 1,5 months of darkness and endless #rain in France?Well, whatever we name it ... I have to put clothes on the radiator before getting dressed: they come out of the wardrobe damp. Legumes mould despite optimum storage temperature. Windows fogging up on the outside. A friend discovers a natural spring in the cellar. Foundations are absorbing water and will break during the next drought. Everything is damp, many people's joints groan.#ClimateDiary
