Fun fact (really). The Bonfire fediverse platform allows each **individual user** the ability to upload their own set of custom emojis. There seems to be no limit to how many, tho I'm sure there will have to be as it gets more popular. And it will. Looking snazzy!#Bonfire #Fediverse

I want to #work with [you] people in the #Fediverse !Translating your articles, #proofreading your #writing, doing #research for your video essay on a 20th century philosophical school, teach you one or two #languages, doing admin for your educational non-profit, exchanging broader knowledge around politics, humanities, literature, helping sell you woodcarving art pieces...but above all I want to make #art and creative things with you.I run out of options and resources to find "normal" work IRL where I live, or escaping to study in Europe, and it is in part because I had already started being too influenced by people on here to be able to continue accepting the dire conditions offered in my immediate environment, but also, I joined here because I did not really belong in said environment already. so the thing is, I can only do the things listed remotely, online, for now.Anyone interested?#translation #job #jobsearch #fedihire

📢 We've sat down with our artist @dopatwo and created a sticker pack for @signalapp. Now you can send cute elephants to your friends, and promote the #fediverse at the same time. Coming soon in #Fedify 1.5.0: Smart fan-out for efficient activity delivery! After getting feedback about our queue design, we're excited to introduce a significant improvement for accounts with large follower counts. As we discussed in our previous post, Fedify currently creates separate queue messages for each recipient. While this approach offers excellent reliability and individual retry capabilities, it causes performance issues when sending activities to thousands of followers. Our solution? A new two-stage “fan-out” approach: When you call Context.sendActivity(), we'll now enqueue just one consolidated message containing your activity payload and recipient list A background worker then processes this message and re-enqueues individual delivery tasks The benefits are substantial: Context.sendActivity() returns almost instantly, even for massive follower counts Memory usage is dramatically reduced by avoiding payload duplication UI responsiveness improves since web requests complete quickly The same reliability for individual deliveries is maintained For developers with specific needs, we're adding a fanout option with three settings: "auto" (default): Uses fanout for large recipient lists, direct delivery for small ones "skip": Bypasses fanout when you need different payload per recipient "force": Always uses fanout even with few recipients // Example with custom fanout setting await ctx.sendActivity( { identifier: "alice" }, recipients, activity, { fanout: "skip" } // Directly enqueues individual messages ); This change represents months of performance testing and should make Fedify work beautifully even for extremely popular accounts! For more details, check out our docs. What other #performance optimizations would you like to see in future Fedify releases? #ActivityPub #fedidev

#Hollo 저장소가 @dahlia/hollo에서 @fedify-dev/hollo로 이전되었습니다. 이에 따라 #Docker 이미지 레지스트리도 ghcr.io/dahlia/hollo에서 ghcr.io/fedify-dev/hollo로 이전되었습니다.

The #Hollo repository has moved from @dahlia/hollo to @fedify-dev/hollo! Along with this move, our #Docker image registry has also been relocated from ghcr.io/dahlia/hollo to ghcr.io/fedify-dev/hollo. While the old image registry will remain accessible, it won't receive any new tags. We recommend all Hollo users to update their Docker image references to the new registry address. To update your Docker configurations, please change: From: ghcr.io/dahlia/hollo:latest To: ghcr.io/fedify-dev/hollo:latest The migration ensures better project organization and continued development. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making this transition smooth! #fediverse https://hollo.social/@fedify/0194a851-581d-779c-b777-dc39e753ef14

My profile's bio may need to be tweaked soon. I'm thinking of coming out of filmmaking retirement to make promotional videos for the #Fediverse.I just rewatched a video I made years ago to criticize Big Tech and oh my goodness it's so tame when you consider the horrors we are facing today: https://vimeo.com/292544650Images from Monday's spectacle (feat. Big Tech oligarchs) would be PERFECT as promotional material for the Fediverse.Oh my, I'm so tempted to make a video. Talk me out of it 🙃

@stefano looking forward to doing something interesting with a RSS weather feed for Cape Town.

Hetzner Considered Hostile: A PSA"On 8 October 2024 I received an email from Hetzner. This was a forwarded abuse report. As is standard practice in the web hosting business Hetzner forwarded this to me so I could take action on it.This was no ordinary abuse report. This was targeted harassment from a threat actor that has been harassing me and my friends for a long time. Now they have started targeting Ten Forward itself in an attempt to cause disruption in the day to day operations of Ten Forward."https://tenforward.blog/hetzner-considered-hostile-a-psa/#fediverse

@stefano I wasn't sure of the best way to ask you a question.I remember there was a discussion about how to install your OS when the provider does not offer it. I know it is tricky but possible to install from a RAM disk.An odd situation has developed where I will need to install this way, with debian on a vps and with BDS on a vps.Can you believe a host would suddenly remove all debian images without noticed? Well, it happened. This would be a solution, in case if I do need to re-install.

The #Fediverse isn't Web 3.0, it's Web for Workgroups 3.11
