I'm somewhat disagree. Politicians make official statements on X that they don't publish anywhere else. Companies announce changes there that don't get posted anywhere else. X is the journal of record for changes of policy at the state and corporate level. I think that makes it real life. I don't think the discourse is real life, though.

I've noticed this when reading news articles or listening to podcasts. They'll talk about someone announcing this or that, and then embed a Tweet. And I'm looking for the link to the thing in the Tweet, and there isn't any. The Tweet is the thing.
