Hej folks!I need your advice. My family loves to record TV shows, but as I just recently learned their TV DRMs all the records which makes switching super hard. I was playing around with Linux and DVR last time 25 years ago, so I wonder:What is the current state of the art setup for TV recording for cool kids? You know, DRM-free, recordable on an external USB drive, etc.Ideally looking for a set top box that I can just plug in, but willing to glue stuff together.#fedihelp #askfedi

My Samsung phone is so frustrating. Even when I'm using an alternative keyboard, the OS insists on autoincorrecting my typing. I cannot find a place to turn it off.Apart from the annoyance where I need to watch out for it corrupting my words or inserting or moving around periods, it also means that in e.g. Termux the terminal won't receive characters until they form a full word. All autocorrect is turned off in AnySoftKeyboard. On a Huawei, that works as expected. I've turned off all autocorrect in Samsung Keyboard, in case that would help. It doesn't.Help?#fedihelp#Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, One UI 6.1

@TazPoltorak @Bfordham some toy machines cheat by only being able to make a chain stitch instead of the lockstitch used by modern¹ machines: those aren't really sewing machines, they can't be used to follow instructions designed for sewing machines and I'd recommend staying away from them even as a “starting” machine, because they really aren't one.the main issue being that the chain stitch unravels, and using it to make functional garments will require a lot more handsewing and different techniques that those used today.as the first sewing machine ever built, they were time saver when sewing meters and meters of ruffles on a 1850s dress, when you were used to sew 1840s dresses by hand, but really, sewing machine technology has moved on :)¹ i.e. since the second half of the 19th century :D
