Hey #mastodon 👋 Does anyone know if it's possible to filter posts from a specific user?

So, for example – User BFF posts mainly about mountains and potatoes. I love BFF's mountain posts and want to keep seeing them but I disagree with BFF's opinion on potatoes.

Is there a way to set a filter that hides BFF's posts on potatoes, but still lets me see everyone else's posts on potatoes?

@beach What I do is mute that user for 6h or a day. But I’m using Ivory and that’s easy to do, don’t know if that’s possible in other apps.

@beach filters are not that sophisticated server-side, but some clients might support them as a plus.

not the same thing, one can alternatively post mountains and potatoes in the same timeframe

@oblomov @beach yeah if the searched worked half as well as it should this would be possible with something like "from:@user searchString" and "from:@user NOT searchString"... and then you could save that in your filters... but the "from" doesn't even work properly, so forget operators

Got some particular client in mind ?
Would love some client, or maybe #phanpy that is my favourite client, to have something like that.

If I mute, maybe for a period of time, the guy speaking about mountains and potatoes,
I'm losing his contributions about mountains.
And it's not that I'm not interested in potatoes, I just don't want to see that guy opinions on potatoes.

We really need to block an account's opinion on potatoes.

@luca @beach I'm afraid I'm not aware of any client that does it presently, sorry.
