I'm so sick of getting scammed by these flimsy polyester napkins cosplaying as winter coats.

@Gina Decathlon is SO cheap compared to competitors, while offering the warmth you desire.
If style matters more than money, I recommend you check out Patagonia.

@Gina My current polyester napkin has a Primaloft filling and it's pretty good in the winter. For more active needs I'd just go with a windproof shell jacket and plenty of merino wool layers.

@Gina I sympathize, I hope you find a coat that will make you comfortable for all of winter đŤś
To be more specific about Decathlon, I recommend you try models SH900 and NH900 from Quechua.

@Gina not sure about the specific models but I have a winter coat from G staw raw which is really warm, a barbour which is not as warm but extremely handy on rainy days, and for cold (sunny) days when I need a lighter option I use one from napapijri of the type that is filled with feathers or whatever the alternative is nowadays.
These three cover my winters from 15 to -5ÂşC aprox

@Gina polyester is ok for repelling water, but it's a terrible insulator and doesn't allow your skin to breathe, so you just get itchy and sweaty despite not actually being warm. Look for 100% wool instead! Ideally a wool overcoat - the length works against both rain and wind and wool is so good that you don't even need a thick/heavy one.
It's even better for bedding because it regulates rather than just cooks. So a wool duvet is good all year round, cooling you in summer and warming in winter.
