I am unable to install EU Login app in my phone because I use LineageOS and not the Google Spy Android.
Thus, I cannot use the double factor authentication, mandatory from the 25-02-2026 on unless I tell Google.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission I wanted to test, if MicroG is enough as Google Play Services replacement but I couldn't since it detected my device is rooted and therefor blocks it for "security reasons"

Hey there EU commission. As a Hungarian citizen I must ask, could we not do this? This is a short sighted and arbitrary limitation that does not add to security but strengthens our dependence on the US. -

@jdelacueva the @EUCommission needs to mandate opening up mobile Phone manufacturers to third party integrity verification Services (and fund initial european companies to bootstrap them), so security related apps don't need to rely on Google/Apple integrity services

@jdelacueva yeah... it's not great. I had to buy a YubiKey to get 2FA without Google when accessing @EUCommission portals

well, we insist in doing apps only for two platforms. There are other OS, really open like Ubuntu Touch that are not under a company.
If we don't start controlling the OS, we will have to follow big tech wishes. -

I dunno. The AI has made me much much more productive as my work involves me learning lots of new technical concepts and software all the time. It reduces a lot of barriers to understanding. I find it hugely helpful, but I do despise AI written content.

@Em0nM4stodon To add a bit more, the AI program I used runs on a desktop computer. It found spastic-typing mistakes such as double commas and some bad editing - changing a noun from singular to plural, getting interrupted by someone with a pressing problem, and then forgetting that I hadn't changed the verb. It probably saved energy - otherwise the computer would have had to be turned on longer due to having to read all that text - over 400 pages - carefully.
