@FediThing I think Mozilla sees itself as a corporate silicon valley organisation.
So it's an attitude I feel is baked in.
They pretend they are a bunch of plucky rebels. But in reality they never were.
Resistance requires intersectionality and also internationality. The valley has been huffing it's own farts for a while now.
So before Mozilla pulls down it's governance repository on GitHub I suggest folks fork a copy. I don't trust Mozilla to keep it up.

@lori Well it's possibly a good reason to consider choosing the GPL and Affero Licences over more permissive licences.
For some reason there's a lot of folks who love Open Source but not the Free Software side.
Code needs to be available to everyone, to download it, inspect it, learn from it, share it.
The GPL does that just fine.

Mozilla wants your input. Here's mine:
Mozilla should be doing two things and two things only:
1: Building THE reference implementation web browser, and
2: Being a jugular-snapping attack dog on standards committees.
3: There is no 3.Mozilla should have NOTHING to do with AI. Nobody wants it. Stop forcing AI into every corner of every project because your VC-brained management have completely lost the plot.

@delegatevoid between all the studies that show ai makes you less productive, ai use makes your skills evaporate, and other things like there being listings for people to invest in companies that *don't* use ai and also banks are apparently starting to refuse to fund the construction of ai data centers; i think it is rather safe to say the people astroturfing it are full of shit

@delegatevoid It's so hard to tell right now. ☹️ I've got more time behind me as a developer than ahead. I'm never adopting the vibe coding AI style. Local code completion is the closest I get.

@stefano @forgetpassword hello yes I am the FreeBSD implementation maintainer. Their deployment/configuration tooling is heavily dependent on Debian/systemd, so I re-implemented it with a self-contained Chef cookbook
it's fully compatible and about 95% identical. A few minor changes are made like keeping the scheduled maintenance jobs as crons as they migrated to systemd timers.
