Ughhhh, et tu calibre?
New features
Release: 8.16.1 04 Dec, 2025; or here on their GitHub
- Allow asking AI questions about any book in your calibre library. Right click the "View" button and choose "Discuss selected book(s) with AI"
- AI: Allow asking AI what book to read next by right clicking on a book and using the "Similar books" menu
- AI: Add a new backend for "LM Studio" which allows running various AI models locally
Calibre is one of those pieces of software that I use from time to time but don't follow closely. I wasn't aware they'd been sipping from the poisoned chalice.

@ireneista @Canageek @abucci @mkj made the great suggestion of an "archive fork" that removes AI shit and that can serve as a base for future hard forks. Hopefully that can do some of the work of turning off the AI?
Only gotten as far as updating the README.md with eventual goals for now, heh.

@ireneista @Canageek @abucci @mkj I absolutely don't think I have the time or stamina to maintain a hard fork at this point in my life and long COVID, but if I can do anything to help reduce the burden of getting a hard fork started, I count that as a win.
