@elena Jellyfin is awesome, I'm running it for couple of months in container with data on NAS (same as other services I self-host).
I don't think it matters that much how your setup will look like. I would consider how it fits the current hardware setup you use, how the service will be accessed and how will be the data protected.
For start and confirming it works for you, the easiest setup makes sense.
@def thank you TomΓ‘Ε‘!

@elena Jellyfin is the favorite tool I'm self-hosting. I've put a ton of work into ripping our physical media, but it's absolutely worth it. π
@irgndsondepp I can't wait to get started!!! πβ

#MySoCalledSudoLife #Jellyfin@elena My primary media usage is music, so I ended up with Navidrome. My only advice would be to look for alternative music apps that are compatible with your Jellyfin service. A good music app is priceless! I am using Symfonium on Android, but I'm sure there are good iOS options.

#jellyfin ππ½π€π½πIt is now 1.5 years for me without Spotify and Netflix. I was so pissed off by their business practices that I made the same decision ;)
I also revived my mp3 collection from long ago and started buying music from #bandcamp. I have a 10 year gap in my music collection because of Spotify. I don't what to imagine how many albums I could have bought from those 1000β¬+ that I wasted on the subscription over 10 years.
And for Netflix: fuck them. Their client apps are utter garbage compared to jellyfin, and their business practices are shady at best. I will never pay them again. Disney and consorts are IMO the same.PS: what I did initially was ask on the jellyfin forums for hardware spec recommendations for my goal. I'm now running a dedicated little NAS that has about 16TB space (4x 4TB because those drives had the best cost-effectiveness when I was buying). More than enough space. But you can also start small with a Raspberry Pi to experiment first. I skipped that step because I was so angry at Netflix and Spotify π€£
PPS: I recommend #Finamp as an Android jellyfin music client ππ½

#MySoCalledSudoLife #Jellyfin@elena Jellyfin is great. Ive been self hosting (jellyfin and a whole lot more) for some time now (on a pi4 with 8gb ram). its more than enough for me. a note to watch out for though:
you'll probably be watching your movies from various clients. dont expect the pi to be able to transcode them... any new generation media formats will be a problem. so stick to simple formats - h264 does work well.
apart from that, have fun : ) -

#MySoCalledSudoLife #Jellyfin@elena Iβll be following closely. Iβll be particularly interested if you try the Raspberry Pi route. Jellyfin has been on my list of todos for a while but my only self-hosting device at the moment is a Pi 5 and Iβve been unsure about using it for this. Torn between that + plus files on NAS or USB hard drive vs. a tower I have available.

@abosio yes Iβll be using my Pi 5β¦ initially for music only to see how it holds up.
I realized that being on a Mac with an AppleTV, I could simply « beam Β» movies to the TV with AirPlay (they say that with Infuse itβs seamless, no painful transcoding)
