Rachel Maddow is uploading multiple broadcasts on YouTube every day now!
Only of course it's not actually Rachel Maddow. They're all deepfakes. 🤡 Slop videos which are apparently convincing enough to fool people in significant numbers.
I wasn't shocked this exists (Maddow herself has mentioned in interviews being aware of many deepfakes out there), but the brazen scale of it, combined with Google (so far) doing jack squat about it, *is* truly shocking to me.

@jaredwhite maybe if someone started producing deepfakes of Zuckerberg and Satya Nadella explaining their business model in brutally honest terms… Meta et al. would start banning non-consensual deepfakes of real people? Maybe being the operative word

@_elena I mean, maybe or maybe not? Sam Altman certainly seemed cool with people making all kinds of weird deepfakes of him using Sora. I don't get it at all. 🤷🏻♂️

@jaredwhite gosh Jared I wish I was good at screenwriting - esp writing satire. I would have already produced these films myself 😬

Dopo la pausa natalizia riparto anche con le mie interviste agli sviluppatori italiani.
Stasera ho sentito due dei creatori di Half Away, un videogioco ispirato al folklore slavo e a quello giapponese.
Tra l'altro ho giocato il loro Half Away durante le vacanze.
In realtà l'ho iniziato ma non concluso perché poi mi sono messo a giocare a un sacco di altre cose.

@aeva Eclipse CDT (C++ Plugin) has a new LSP-based mode which for some reason replaces the whole text-editor widget with something that doesn't respect the syntax coloring settings you made in the global preferences.
What's even worse: It only seems to allow a handful of themes and somehow Solarized Light is the default o_O
