Fedifolks, can you recommend me some respectable email provider?
-
@alice@mk.nyaa.place gmail yeah, but I don't want to use it
@tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud fair enough
-
@tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud is just that some services are picky and don’t like mailbox, so i use my old gmail address for those. Discord being one such service, and surprisingly - porkbun

Fedifolks, can you recommend me some respectable email provider? Important: I don't want encrypted email. It have 0 benefits and it's only pain in the ass. It would be sweet if I didn't had to pay for it, too.
Please boost.

@tragivictoria Posteo is like 1 euro a month. German company with a medium-small (no one man army) team, no E2E complicated junk like Tuta or Proton but they do allow (opt-in) encryption at-rest. They are pretty committed to privacy as they annually provide a transparency report of all governmental data requests. They use Roundcube as webmail interface. One drawback: no custom domains.

@cidra@mastodon.uno does it work well with aliases?

@cidra@mastodon.uno does it work well with aliases?
@tragivictoria Yes. 2 aliases are free. Every additional alias costs 0.10€/month. Also supports filter addressess (e.g. cidra+newsletters@posteo.it) and its filter control panel is pretty good. It provides many domains (posteo.de, posteo.it, posteo.com, posteo.net ....).

@alice@mk.nyaa.place worst part is that I don't know much about email

@tragivictoria i've been using it without issues for many years, and i haven't heard anything incriminating about them (unlike proton) -

@tragivictoria i personally use migadu.com , the plan is set by real use instead of mailbox or domain count

@tragivictoria I’m happy with https://migadu.com and a few of my friends are using it as well. It just does standard mail protocols, has a straightforward subscription and one can/needs to bring ones own domain(s).
