dear #woodworking #making #repair #crafts #weaving bubble, i am absolutely stumped. i saw photos of this easy chair’s woven back rest, and my mind is just completely blanking on how this works.there’s a wooden frame, it is visibly spiral-wrapped in cane (or rattan or whatever), and the strands only travel between opposing sides in the front. there doesn’t seem to be room for any of the strands to make an about-face so it can travel back to the other side in front. if they keep their twisting direction, they’d have to travel on the back side of the frame, which they evidently don’t.any ideas anyone? (if you can boost or ping someone in the know, i’d be most grateful because i’m set to lose sleep over this)photos of chair’s back rest from front and back attached.

I’m building a little wooden boat. The outer shell is plywood. I covered the plywood with a thin layer of clear epoxy so as to hopefully last longer and be more watertight. Now I want to paint it.Do I need to use primer? Or does the layer of epoxy work as a primer? Thanks in advance, folks#woodworking #boatbuilding #painting

@GustavinoBevilacqua Considering this saw is easily a 100+ years old, how would they have done it?Maybe they had a strong press with a stamping die that simply took brass rods and brute-forced their ends into that shape. Don’t know. The rib is important, though. Without that they’d be near useless.
