@vkc I am sure you will mention this in the video, but let me ask regardless. Some apps simply won't work on #GrapheneOS due to the silly Play Integrity API or other factors. For example, I cannot switch right now, as my health insurance app will not work - at all - and I need it a lot. So did you encounter any annoying apps like this and how did or would you resolve this? I thought about a secondary phone but am not sure. Thanks!

@vkc App "store" recommendations. I've installed some stuff off of F-Droid, but have started feeling unsure about it due to some of the drama around Syncthing-fork, as well generic internet debate on the topic. Minimizing the usage of google play is a strong desire, but something that has a normal release/update pipeline would be nice.

@vkc As an iOS user who has nearly zero experience with anything Android, I'd love to know if I can buy a supported Pixel to install & familiarize myself with grapheneOS without moving my sim card over, so I don't get stuck between phones for things like 2FA auth 😅 so I can complete my migration when it feels right. Thanks!

@vkc keen to understand the backup&restore process, any gotchas there, especially moving between models of phone.

@wickedshell @vkc what is the drama around Syncthing-fork?? I don't understand what is/was the problem...

@vkc I run GOS on my pixel I think my only question/comment is that I'd like to see more support for Unified Push for doing self-hosted push in FOSS apps (nextcloud/signal or xmpp/thunderbird/SIP/etc.) and also I'm looking forward to them having their own hardware or at least options other than google. As a Canadian I'd prefer to avoid any Chinese or American tech that isn't full open source ideally including the baseband.

@posiputt @vkc to expand on app support: specifically applications and features around finance, like contactless payments, bank apps, local transit apps. Historical situation, current state and potential future (I'm seeing more and more signals that even apps that currently work fine might stop working in the future).

@vkc do you feel that the drama at all affects the product and its future? I daily drive Graphene with few bugs and no complaints for my use case, but even after the years of the dev going after Techlore and Rossmann, I still see a lot of aggression from him against anything deemed a "competitor." This might be too broad a topic to just be a video segment, but it is a concern what we hold standards to for conduct vs product in the overall health of the privacy community.

@vkc Is it a pain to make banking app work on graphene?
I've heard since it's not an official rom some banks straight out refuse to let you install their app/ flag you as a rogue user.I can answer some questions;
Most banking apps do work. There is an unoffical compatibility list; https://privsec.dev/posts/android/banking-applications-compatibility-with-grapheneos/
Only Google's tap-to-pay doesn't work because, well, Google is gate keeping that functionality with Play Integrity (Attestation).

@antoniovr @vkc I also have not kept up with this, so it may not be a real thing.
