@stefano Full disclaimer, and the rule sucks at making this point clear. My issues with Huawei predate their entrance to the phone market (and the existence of a smart phone market entirely), and the bulk of the backdoors claims. When they got started, they made their coin by cloning Cisco hardware and software. They had such perfect copies of Cisco's stuff, they were replicating hardware bugs. I dislike Huawei because that kind of behavior is unacceptable to me.
Now, the allegations of backdoors? I have no reason to believe they are not true, as it is right inline with the PRC's playbook. I've helped rip out a fair share of Huwei gear in the past few years, but I wasn't on the forensics side. So if a backdoor was active, I wasn't told about it.
And on the phone side of things. Android phones are already privacy violation machines, the OS is built for that bullshit. Adding a bit more? Hardly a challenge.
So no, just what I've heard.
