FWIW I used to help with hackathons using open data sets and lots of other tech events.
I also met my partner at a science fiction convention years ago and we're both keen readers.

@Edent I donât really think thatâs the issue.
Criticism of AI is not only about asking for the right to opt out of the feature (or for the feature to be opt in); people think these features shouldnât exist in the first place. There are plenty of problems with AI that donât go away just because I donât personally have to use them.
Among other things, for me personally it would make me doubt the developerâs judgment and priorities.
I realise not everybody agrees with me on that point and I donât expect them to, but I think itâs worth understanding what the actual criticisms are and not simply assuming that people are misunderstanding/assuming the worst/inventing problems.

Even Cory Doctorow spoke about his use of LLMs in a recent blog post. Our Cory from the EFF and Enshittification fame! He doubled down when he got criticized on here, defending his use
