Someone was suspended
Death threats? Plain criticism? I didn't investigate
But:
The suspension affects #Blacksky as well
All this talk about the *promise* of #decentralization
But that is not the reality
Cultists buy the promise and ignore the reality
Come to #Mastodon / #Fediverse
Oh we have drama too
Some instances suspend out of capricious bullshit, a Spanish Inquisition
But you still have reach:
We are truly #decentralized

@benroyce last night I caught up on all the drama and I'm absolutely flabbergasted... and a little surprised there hasn't been more talk on here about the implications of the false promises of AT Proto's decentralization.
Link has been permanently banned even if he's on Blacksky... because Blacksky uses Bluesky's AppView https://bsky.app/profile/rvbdrm.com/post/3m2jxe5ly722x
Looking up "Link Blacksky" on Bluesky surfaces really interesting talking points

"surprised there hasn't been more talk on here about the implications of the false promises of AT Proto's #decentralization"
there's feverish true believers who think #bitcoin is the future of money
never going to happen: massive energy use
that doesn't stop the true believer
it's a cult
same with "#bluesky is #decentralized"
and my example of bitcoin is purposeful:
bluesky is run by #cryptoBros, and funded by #crypto bros
they imported the crypto con job to #socialMedia

how is 99% bluesky "also true" for 25% mastodon.social's share?
it's not "also true"
99 does equal 25
in fact, large parts of the fediverse suspend mastodon.social
please read and understand:

@benroyce @luca brilliant analogy Ben.
And besides visibility, I think Link - and other people who got banned - may have also lost the ability to log onto their accounts. Post history, social graph, followers, poof! All gone up in smoke (as far as I can tell, correct me if I'm wrong).
On the Fediverse, my self-hosted GoToSocial instance ensures I have full control. Sure, I can be blocked by scores of other instances, but I still have control over my data. The true power of decentralization

I don't particularly like AT proto, aside the bridge, i'm not there, I find it extremely difficult to understand it, for no relevant reason to me.
On the contrary, ActivityPub can be understood in 5 minutes from anyone willing to.What I mean is that, once someone prove to be able to fully self-host AT, it's up to people to do so.
It became open to decentralization.Your account is on the flagship mastodon instance, that 25% is also concerning, ok, less concerning but still concerning.
I guess also mastodon.social had 100% of share at the beginning
Last year they got 100%, I don't think they have still 99%, but let's see in one year from now.

@luca@sironi.tk @_elena@mastodon.social @benroyce@mastodon.social They have bluesky's mod service added to their appview. They can remove this at any time, and substitute it with their own.,

@_elena@mastodon.social @luca@sironi.tk @benroyce@mastodon.social Blacksky has their own relay: https://atproto.africa

Ben, @irelephant (thank you for the name of the relay) is reporting public facts.
Given public facts, the reported story does not make sense, we're missing something, I won't be surprised if advanced #bluesky users, do config mistake, with all those lego pieces.
Fediverse is much easier, your instance, your moderation.
A small instance, you know the moderators.
A big instance, not your moderation -

A big instance, not your moderationso you talk of "facts," then you allude to actual facts above that you reject, then you topic change and wave your hands about "you can't moderate yourself on a large instance" as if that means anything
thank you for your "facts"

Ben
- an existing relay, used by thousands of people is a fact.
- it's also a fact that without having native accounts there, and a deep understanding
of a difficult protocol, and based on screenshots and our desires to be right, it's difficult to understand what probably went wrong for that user.
Maybe he misconfigured some blacksky software, or he found a bug, I have NOT denied the story, I just said, before going around with torches and pitchforks, that is *strange*.anyway, please, unfollow me.
You are way too aggressive on this topic (read ! scroll up ! understand !)
I mostly post stuff in italian, not necessarily related to holy wars, and you don't seem to be interested in understanding my points and my opinions anyway
