I don't particularly like AT proto, aside the bridge, i'm not there, I find it extremely difficult to understand it, for no relevant reason to me.
On the contrary, ActivityPub can be understood in 5 minutes from anyone willing to.What I mean is that, once someone prove to be able to fully self-host AT, it's up to people to do so.
It became open to decentralization.Your account is on the flagship mastodon instance, that 25% is also concerning, ok, less concerning but still concerning.
I guess also mastodon.social had 100% of share at the beginning
Last year they got 100%, I don't think they have still 99%, but let's see in one year from now.

Given public facts, the reported story does not make sense, we're missing something, I won't be surprised if advanced #bluesky users, do config mistake, with all those lego pieces.
Fediverse is much easier, your instance, your moderation.
A small instance, you know the moderators.

- it's also a fact that without having native accounts there, and a deep understanding
of a difficult protocol, and based on screenshots and our desires to be right, it's difficult to understand what probably went wrong for that user.
Maybe he misconfigured some blacksky software, or he found a bug, I have NOT denied the story, I just said, before going around with torches and pitchforks, that is *strange*.anyway, please, unfollow me.

A big instance, not your moderation@luca @benroyce @irelephant @_elena Even if it's a config issue caused by the system being hideously complex we would still seem to end up at the conclusion that you need to be a million or billion dollar company with a team of full-time engineers to actually try to build a full alternative implementation of this "decentralized" system. Its governance can at best be an oligarchy. By design.
If they wanted it to actually be decentralized they'd be finding ways to help people fix these issues.

I wouldn't say the system is hideously complex, moderation services are a pretty simple feature used by loads of people who don't know what a decentralisation is themselves. -

Not sure what reddwarf is, all I get is an error page (NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource) and I can't find any page explaining what it's supposed to be or what I'm supposed to be seeing.AppViewLite seems to only be implementing one single component, the appview.
Warfrn is also only a partial implementation. Says right in their docs that you'll need other components to use it with bluesky. No mention of where to get those though. I'd guess they expect you to rely on the centralized Bluesky ones.
And Blacksky is the one we were already discussing that allegedly doesn't understand how to actually implement the things they're trying to implement. Or maybe they do and the network just isn't actually decentralized. Those seem to be the two options.
Would any of these platforms survive if Bluesky decided to set up a firewall blocking them from the Bluesky infrastructure? Seems like the answer is no. That is not a decentralized system, that's an API.

I just need to tell you folks... That I _LOVE_ #Mastodon and the #Fediverse.
I know it's not perfect. I know it needs to be better and it needs to provide _much_ better safety mechanisms for vulnerable folks.
But this platform, more than any other, give _us_ the opportunity to affect change in those areas for the better.

e sì sono cose che si vedono pure con il discorso app, proprio perché ne esistono a bizzeffe (anche un bene, certo) ma anche solo il concetto di istanze, dove iscriversi ecc

@Xabacadabra a caldo e da una che è arrivata l'altro ieri: uno dei problemi del Fediverso (Mastodon in particolare) è il classismo. Se non sposi la causa al 1000 per 100 capita spesso di essere trattatə da stupidə. Si dice tanto dei social commerciali, ma avere un'opinione diversa qui sopra genera quasi la stessa merda. Personalmente me ne frego, ma le persone hanno bisogno di leggerezza e vanno dove è facile stare. Anche solo capire che app usare per Mastodon per alcunə è complicato.
