How much should the US government concentrate on domestic issues?

Feel free to define what "concentrate" means here. Budget, mindshare, public announcements, personnel.

@evan AIUI, the idea of the US founders was that state governments would be mostly responsible for domestic policy, and that the federal government would provide a common defence and enforce free trade; the USA was envisioned as something like the EU, but with the military no longer run by the member nations.
On the whole, that seems like a wise way to structure the US, though there's not any realistic way from here to there...
I'd say states should be about 100% domestic, the feds about 50%.

@evan what does the percentage even MEAN?
The US is Rome. We have and always have had serious issues, domestically, including being in the throes of teething for a country with under 250yrs. However, being top dog in a global scenario means your domestic safety is directly, inextricably linked to a stable, mostly safe world.
