@liaizon No, I haven’t submitted it as a FEP yet. I actually wasn’t aware that extensions like this are supposed to be submitted as FEPs. Do you think it would make sense to submit it? If so, I’m happy to do that.
@mczachurski FEP=Fediverse Extension Protocol (or Proposals) where Fediverse mostly means ActivityPub and related microstandards that interact with AP and such so most definitely the right place for these sorts of initiatives

@pfefferle @mczachurski @dansup @pixelfed Hopefully, users are prompted to select the specific EXIF data they want to share. It's easy to forget to sanitize photo EXIF and publicly announce the lat/lon of your home or other potentially-sensitive locations.

@aslakr The only good explanation is probably that I was blind when I did the research on this last year. This is definitely an area for improvement. Thanks for the information about it. 😊@pfefferle @liaizon

@eyeinthesky I can only speak for Vernissage. It is very clear and obvious to the user which metadata will be included.

@liaizon @aslakr @pfefferle Oh, I can see there’s a dedicated room: https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/social-web/. Unfortunately, I’m not going. I didn’t know about it earlier, so I didn’t plan for it. Besides, I’m already spending so much out of my own pocket on this whole thing that another expense just isn’t an option.

@dansup Hello. If you decide to add EXIF metadata support to #Pixelfed at some point in the future, please note that #Vernissage has introduced an ActivityPub extension for this, described here: https://joinvernissage.org/ns#exif.
Supporting the same extension across both platforms would be highly beneficial for users, who should remain the primary focus 😊.

@amoroso it's often a missing library when things like that happen. if you run it from a shell prompt, you might see some messages about why it's not running.

Can you help me troubleshoot a Linux issue?
Have you experienced issues with the Typesetter editor for Typst (or other Flatpak appplications) failing to launch from the desktop menu after logging out and back in? The context is this issue I have on Linux Mint Cinnamon.
