Good morning. I've enjoyed Mastodon for 8 years now. It wasn't a problem until recently, but I am convinced that the CW feature should be systematically used with the mention #uspol.
I am not telling anyone what to do. Currently, I'm obliged to mute people who post horrendous images or article shares about the violence. I want to see posts that make Mastodon what it is; more intelligent and thought-provoking than other platforms. I don't need to get news from a social network.

I have a huge filter list, but it doesn't remove all the depressing "content" currently "shared". At the very least, a hashtag would help, since they can be filtered. Thanks for your consideration.

@randulo I have a ridiculous filter rule which hides with warning, and sometimes I turn it to hide silently.
But also people who don't CW at all, I just block. Life's short and stressful.

@mdhughes I like the subtle difference between mute and block. I generally use mute.

@randulo Like you, I don't tell people what to do. I mentioned that I wished hashtags, like USPOL, could be placed in a list and then hidden from home timeline like we can do with users and lists. I do that with political users. I was told by #Mastodon developers that adding hashtags to lists and then hiding from home would not ever happen. I think it would be a great thing and I hope they reconsider it.
Until then, I filter things out of my timeline I don't want to see or am not interested in. It's far from perfect and things get through I am not interested in.
At least now they added an option when you click a hashtag you can quickly mute it.

Since I can't force people to use CW I added tons and tins of filters.

@paul Again, thanks Paul, it's always a pleasure to actually engage with people, rather than havingto add filters with names of new political actors being discussed.

Libro comprato quasi per caso, incuriosito da recensioni che non volevano accennare alla trama per non rovinare la sorpresa. E così non svelerò neanch'io di cosa parla, ma dirò solo che le premesse di tutta la vicenda sono narrate nelle prime due pagine. Parlerò invece di alcuni aspetti accessori che possano orientare chi volesse leggerlo. L'autore Ferenc Karinthy, oltre che scrittore e giornalista, è stato anche un linguista, così come lo è il protagonista del romanzo. Ecco dunque una prima e forse principale chiave di lettura: la capacità che una lingua ha di strutturare un'intera società creando legami o barriere persino più forti delle differenze culturali o etniche. Secondariamente va sottolineato che l'autore è di origine ungherese e che il romanzo è stato pubblicato la prima volta nel 1970. Il lettore contemporaneo deve considerare questo scostamento temporale e geopolitico perché gli ambienti e le atmosfere della storia ne sono fortemente caratterizzati. Infine un'osservazione personale: le vicende del protagonista mi hanno coinvolto al punto che in certi momenti ho fatto il tifo per lui, mentre magari subito dopo disapprovavo con disappunto le sue scelte. In pratica ho provato sentimenti contrastanti di simpatia/antipatia per questo personaggio così caparbio, ma al tempo stesso incapace di far fronte alle avversità.

Turns out the size of the IKEA Tradfri control unit is just slightly higher than the gap under the front of an IBM AT. If you push the front of the Tradfri unit, say, cos you lean against it without realising it. Then the Tradfri box slides under the AT, which presses the button on the face of the Tradfri, which turns the lights on, and starts cycling through the colours.
It wasn't some malicious hacker playing with my lights. It was just the Tradfri box being squeezed under a 30 yr old PC.
