RB5009 as router & firewall (2.5G connection to the ISP modem)
hAP ax2 as AP (wifi)router somewhere in the house
CAP ax for the enhanced wifi experience (yes I have demanding housemates)That will upgrade wifi to 6, add WPA3 and replace opnsense (an old device which reduces throughput)
And an implicit move for US to EU products -

@jenstec I know, the routerOS setup is overwhelming.
As it seems, the defaults work out of the box with DHCP from the ISP side.Lets see…

Wi-Fi is UniFi as MT APs didn't work well with my home's thick walls but UniFi did.

I expect similar or better signals, if possible also in the garden…MT not for thick walls? Hmm lets see… and wait

I have a temporary Unifi setup with a Unifi AC Pro, an 8 Port PoE Switch, PoE Passive Switch (can't remember the models) and a USG (they were hand-me-downs from a friend for a good price at the time).
Did have a browse but not sure what to go for. Between yourself, @justine and @stefano it looks like I have some good folks to ask for help when the time comes. :)

@joshaspinall @justine @stefano
I am not a good reference for Mikrotik at the moment.. but it will grow on me.
Maybe my choice is a bit overkill, especially when the wifi reaches everywhere. But the extra access point with a router provides some more flexibility in the home office and hobby space

@joshaspinall @justdude @justine I'm currently configuring this for my office.
At the moment, I'm managing around 50 #MikroTik devices. They're all doing great.
I have more or less other 50 devices to be delivered or "just in case". They can be off for years - I upgrade them, reset to default settings and they're ready to do their job in a reliable way.
Oh, and I also have a watchdog! -
