Canadian women will absolutely play soccer in a snowstorm and grin while doing it.
Today, Montreal Roses and AFC Toronto stepped onto a green pitch for an NSL semifinal. And soon, it looked like a Christmas card. Snow hammering down. Visibility dropping. And both teams acting like this was the best idea anyone ever had.
No, this wasn’t the CPL Final in terms of scope. But stakes were big. Win and you go to the NSL Final. Lose and you go home wondering why you didn’t bring a shovel.
And the game itself? Chaos. Twice as many goals as the CPL Final. Celebrations dialed up to eleven. No “icicle kick,” but the Roses still dropped a full worm dance in the snow—because “Hey Ya!” actually blasted over the stadium speakers. Absolute madness.
Point is simple. Our women are tough. Our women are fun. Our women will play through a blizzard and make it look like a party. That’s Canadian soccer.
