Folks who don't browse fedi on their mobile devices - how do you keep up with your feed? you just scroll back to the time you remember you have last seen on fedi timeline?
@0xdjdev I use Tusky and that one remembers my position in my time line. Or rather, when I take time to look at it, I go all the way to the top. When I reopen, it loads new posts and I am automatically at the right place.

@0xdjdev I don't try to "keep up" with any timeline. I scroll as far as I'm interested. On my home TL, I usually hit what I last saw pretty quickly since I manage that carefully.

@Fissile I asked about people who don't use fedi on mobile devices.

@0xdjdev I start at the top and scroll back down to wherever I was, or until I get bored

@0xdjdev Ohh, I'm sorry, I misread that!

@0xdjdev not with the number of people I'm following - I just see what's most recent when I pop in XD

@welshpixie yeah I think with a few hundreds and more you just can't keep up :P

@0xdjdev
exactly that (laptop, browser)
or as far back as it lets me go: there's sometimes a cut-off where it just *won't* load any further back -

@0xdjdev yes or scroll until i get bored. Though I do wish you start at the oldest unseen post in your feed

@0xdjdev I keep it past the newest read post, so Mastodon keeps the scroll position, I read all before restarting the browser or rebooting the computer. I sometimes bookmark the newest post, mostly to switch to a different device.
This needs suspending the computer instead of powering it off for the night, so I can then click the loading indicator many times for it to fetch the missing posts.
This would've been much easier if it synced the position on the server.

@lukyan yeah, the sync of the feed position on your account would be nice...

@0xdjdev I do pretty much that for my home feed, hashtags, and list columns (I use Mastodon's advanced mode). I carefully tune the amount of people and hashtags I follow and their posting volume to make this manageable.
