Larger offspring is going to #China for a school trip, so we caved and set up a cellphone for them. We will have to install some local spyware (#WeChat) because apparently a lot of Western stuff over there is locked and they'll need something to communicate among the students and teachers and they've settled for that. I'm also putting #DeltaChat there because at least for communication with us it'll hopefully work.

@oblomov sounds good. maybe use not the default relay but one of the https://chatmail.at/relays ones, for the one that travels.

#Mastodon's “quote protection” for “unauthorized” quotes is a farce. It won't show the preview AND not show you the link in the UI of the PWA, but you can trivially look at the JSON to find the link and follow it as any regular link. So can we please just stop the pretense that this is going to do anything to prevent abuse and show the link when the preview is not available, like with ANY OTHER LINK?
