@c_merriweather @Remittancegirl oh, if you expect to have to do alterations then 100% no french seams, they are a PITA to unpick (and it's harder to store enough fabric in them). And if you're working under theatrical (or equivalent) deadlines I can definitely see how french seams may not be the best choice. But what's the problem with the washings? I tend to put french (and flat felled) seams in my pajamas and underwear *precisely* because they are a strong finish that will survive being washed weekly or so in a regular, non delicates, load (and afaik were also used historically for the same reason in stuff that was washed with traditional methods involving boiling and beating and generally harsh treatments)

@DanielMenjivar @khleedril @sewing could they have used a stretch tape?(a zipper mounted on stretch tape *would* be quite an innovation, and it wouldn't prevent fixing the garment when it breaks)

@sinituulia I use my tailor's sausage for ironing sleeves because the sleeve board is way too big, but 100% relatable!(also, the sausage needs to be put in from the armscye side, because one end is too big to fit in the sleeves anyway)

Friendly reminder to watch out for AI pattern scams! Lazy pattern makers will do AI patterns (or just be lazy) and instructions that don't math or fit together A friend just reached out to me regarding a quilt block. The pattern was advertised at 12 inch block when it was 14 inches using the pattern. The pictured design wasn't possible!. The math didn't math. She had already painstakingly color coordinated 8 colors for the design, to coordinate with a 12 inch pre-printed block. So I helped her tweak the block design to keep her 8 fabric choices, to get the math to math. What is worse: she blamed herself! The pattern was garbage, it wasn't her fault at all.#sewing
