What's the farthest you would go to see a concert?
-
@evan the obstacle here is money, not distance hahaha
-
@evan I once traveled from California to London to see Kate Bush. It was so worth it! I also used to travel within the US to see the Dead, and more recently have traveled to New Orleans or LA to see shows by favorite musicians. If it's an interesting place, you can always make a fun trip out of it.

@jimi OK but traveling farther usually costs more money

@jamesmarshall That's cool! Did you ever go fully "on tour"?
-
@evan In typical Canadian style, I measure distance in hours. Depending on how much I like the artist, 3 to 6 hours. :D

@evan not for a whole season or anything. We did road trip from Houston to Colorado once to see 3 shows at Red Rocks and 2 at Telluride, all quite spectacular. Usually I would just fly from Houston to California for a run of 3-4 shows.

@evan just today I flew x-country and part of this trip is a concert Friday night :)
-
@evan I'm not warping back to Xarkclanx IV, even if The Beatles are playing a reunion show there. It's just not worth dealing with the decade of spontaneous liquefaction after.

@evan When I was younger, "own region." I think the farthest I've traveled for a concert was 400 km or so (Radiohead). Nowadays, my city, I'm too old for that shit. ๐
-
@evan own solar system, probably.
-
@evan basically anywhere that's a direct flight from my city. There is only one international flight from here (soon to be 2). So I chose "own country."
-
@evan I would legitimately travel off-planet to see some bands, if I could afford it.
Actually, I don't think it would matter what the band was ๐ ๐
-
I've only once made a transcontinental journey to see a concert, but that was when I lived across an ocean from London.
Now I go up to London or Paris once per year or so for a gig.
My own country is more of a monthly/weekly thing, given that I commute across cantonal borders anyway.
-
@evan Own planet. I am from a very small country (Denmark) and live right next to a border. I have gone some times to Sweden and Germany for a concert.
-
@evan missing a "own continent" option ^^'
-
@evan does "region" go across country borders?
-
@evan realistically iโd say ~800km one way would be the maximum, so anywhere between western europe and dnipro river west coast. if i have at least one friend coming with me, tho? own universe
-
Depends how flush I am at the moment, what country the concert is in (save or not so much) and how bad I wanna see it but if all these things check out then global

-
@evan Own city but mostly owing to financial restrictions. If budget weren't a concern then probably anywhere in Western Europe, I'd gladly take an excuse to ride trains across the continent all day(s)
