Have Y'all seen what Walmart is doing? They're implementing digital pricing, where you have to scan a QR code with your phone, or use their app, to find out what the price is. Talk about data mining. They also took out all the handheld scanners, so it forces you to use your phone. I think Kroger and Target are also looking into doing the same thing, including dynamic pricing, which is a fancy way of saying price gouging, with price fluctuations based on demand, kind of like how Uber does peak demand pricing. I hate it.

As an old, I don't even take my phone with me everywhere. I don't always want to bother keeping up with it, so I leave it at home on the charger. I guess people like us don't count.

So, to retail stores with no prices, even on clothing merchandise tags, restaurants with no physical menu, and businesses whose website info. can only be accessed via social media: I want nothing to do with you! I will find a way to get what I need, without you.

These stores also want to use facial recognition software to get information on your buying habits, so it's a great time to mask up in public spaces.

I wish I were being paranoid. The truth is, I probably don't even know the half of it.

What are Y'all reading right now? I'm a little nervous to read it, because Douglas Stuart tends to tear your heart apart, but I'm starting John of John, which has garnered rave reviews, for the most part.

One reader did complain in their review of this book that "nothing happened" and that the MC was "problematic." I think that's a profound misunderstanding of fiction. Sometimes the conflict is found within the interior world of the obviously flawed characters: in their relationships, and in their battles with the boundaries that constantly constrain them. Yes, nothing falls from the sky, and nothing blows up, but character studies can be just as riveting as plot-driven narratives.

@LikeItOrLumpIt There are few films that truly impress me with their cinematography, but these stand out to me:

If you get a chance to see The Fall (2006) starring Lee Pace, it is a beautifully shot film, directed by Tarsem Singh, and is hard to find even online. The Tree of Life (2011) is another film that has some gorgeous shots, especially towards the end, directed by Terence Malick. I really liked both Pan's Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, both directed by Guillermo del Toro.

I like the use of color, space, well-chosen details, and significant atmospherics with an overall dream-like feel to them.
