Just got my car back from the car repair shop. When I had paid my bill, 2 gendarmes came in in full regalia.
They had blocked my car by parking in the second row for paying their debts to the repair shop owner.
I said, ‘Oh, go ahead and pay your debts first, I have time. I won't call the gendarmerie.’ Everyone laughed, including the gendarmes.

I just tried very hard to translate a text (coming directly from my brain) into English. Didn't work. Desperately entered it into a translation machine. It gives me a result, but in German!
Suddenly I realised that my text had come from my brain in English already.

*My mother tongue is German, but my everyday languages are French and Alsatian. English is my working language. Coffee!
My colleagues often ask me why, after years of working in our museum, I still go on photo hunts. The answer is simple: even though I give guided tours of the museum, there is still so much I haven't seen. When I show them photos like this, they say, ‘Oh, I haven't seen that yet!’

Sparkling light helps in dark winter times. In former times, light bulbs had much less power than today. A curtain of glass beads helped to focus the light and produced fairy reflects. Often, people made these decorations themselves.
