This is a reply about Mastodon.
I’m not saying there is nothing to criticise Bluesky for. But it is a bit odd to focus on it here considering the grave problems Mastodon itself has with Nazis, racists, antisemites and other authoritarian people

i got banned from #bluesky for over-celebrating the death of a racist, fascist, bigot. i'm still celebrating 🥳
i went from angry to thankful that i'm now in the #fediverse
i get more engagement in months on #Mastodon than i did for a yr w/ 1.4k followers on #bsky
i don't know if this will become true, but as long as #bluesky refuses to return to me all of the content i created there before they banned me, i will continue to #Resist those appeasers

@WorldTravelerAll7 Definitely off topic but for the point of leaving platforms: Substack isn't better. You could easily switch to #Ghost which also have a feature to migrate from different providers like e.g. Substack.

@gelbphoenix this is so interesting, bc i just got a comment, "too bad it's on substack" on something else i posted
i've heard this quite a few times, & i started researching it
those who have recommended i leave substack have recommended wordpress & ghost
i'm genuinely exploring ghost, but both of these have nazi problems bc they are self-proclaimed "freespeech" advocates
substack's problem was they promoted it. but now they stopped & started blocking nazi stuff
but not wordpress?🤔

Before, you were seeing the same topics (more or less, I think the logic changed a little bit) but in a "topic list" style — like you were navigating into just another category.
While that worked fine, the vast majority of content was microblog content that did not come with a title, so one needed to be generated.
A topic listing with many many long titles (some of which don't function well as titles) does not a good topic list make 🙂

@mntmn @cwebber management types have wanted this since the 1950s. it’s why COBOL and SQL exist; it’s why RAD exists. It’s why so called “4th Generation Languages” exist. Management would like nothing more to be done with needing to think about all those pesky details like “that’s a logical impossibility” or “that’s P=NP”, they want their word to be the word of god
