A quick welcome to #BlueSky leavers, it's lovely to have you here. I hope you enjoy a non-billionaire-curated, no-algorithm, chronological feed of the people you actually follow (and what they boost).
If you have questions, feel free to ask people. We're generally pretty nice about helping new folk to adjust to things here.
Quick primer: CW your posts about politics, traumatic things, and so on.
Use alt-text; many of us will not boost a post that does not have it. Accessibility matters.
Use and follow hashtags.
And post an #introduction. It helps a lot for others to grant your follow request if you have a profile, a PFP, and an introduction (which you can periodically update as it changes).
If you're Black, be aware there are many, many white folk here with good intentions, who have NOT DONE THE WORK. My friend @Impossible_PhD says in these cases, BRAVO:

If an instance admin does not respond or responds badly, inform your own instance's admins, and let them deal with it appropriately.

tl;dr Mastodon users occasionally spam mentions and Lemmy (and probably Piefed) ingests them all and makes the post across all of the mentioned communities.
Sucks, right, because on the theadiverse, you're not actually able to do that so easily.
Basically, it's because Mastodon mixes mentions with addressing. Every mentioned person gets addressed, even though sometimes you don't mean for it to go into that community.
So what if Lemmy, Piefed, Mbin, and NodeBB made it so that only the first matching community gets the post? We can already tell which posts come from threadiverse software and which don't (because we use audience, Mastodon doesn't.)
Just an idea, I can't speak for the other softwares.

@Veza85UE tu sei libero di giocare ai soldatini seguendo congetture, ma giocaci con i soldi tuoi e rispetta chi ha riferimenti diversi dai tuoi per la sicurezza e la difesa e segue interpol ed europol, oppure arruolati in qualche esercito del bene, così puoi salvare il mondo da neri, islamici, comunisti e woke. Ma se un pensiero libero chiede anche di essere rispettabile e rispettato, deve mostrare rispetto dei dati di realtà, in base ai quali la spesa militare NATO è decupla di quella russa.
