I've been building an RSS reader for the past year.

@kevinrenskers they won't respond to my emails and appear to want an enterprise plan to allow customers to use their content. if you can get their attention I'm glad to chat!
@tg yeah it seems they changed the focus of the company. Unread (my old rss reader) does have Feedly, but I guess it’s time to move on from them. (Them being Feedly)
-
@tg Current looks great, does it support Feedly?
@hmelman not at this time, they won't respond to my emails and appear to want a kings ransom for an enterprise plan....
-
@tg what a beautiful article; both the writing and design. I was already curious, but the native miniflux support clinched it. Bought and about to try.
Thanks for building something new with care and love! 🖤
@brainsik thank you for reading!

@tg Your homepage (https://www.terrygodier.com) doesn't link to Current on the App Store? Only at the end of a very long article (https://www.terrygodier.com/current).
Also, when I’m reading the article, I can’t go back to the homepage? There’s no navigation at all.
@kevinrenskers it's brand new! I'll work on it a little :)

@tg I am a pro subscriber and would write them if you tell me what to ask for.

@tg When items fade from view, are they marked as read on the RSS service (I use Feedbin)? I’m just wondering whether something that’s disappeared because its time expired would still show in another app or not.
-
@tg This looks awesome! Quite sad that it's not available on Android, but I'm still following you for news on that. Can't wait to try it out once it is!
@tuxsec thank you :)
-
@tg FYI the app website (current.tg) linked from the Mac app doesnt seem to exist.
Also the Mac app doesn’t seem to respect the “show oldest articles first” setting.
Are you planning to add a web view by default? The app is very nice looking and I appreciate very much how you’ve thought about it, but there are pages that have to be the web page (and I have to be logged in) to read them.
Looks like a great start.
@wyldphyre fixed! should be available very soon from apple
-
@tg And it works with Newsblur too, awesome! Purchased
@ben thank you!
-
@tg really nice! Any plans for an android version?
@centralscrutinizer not very soon, but web pretty soon!
-
@tg can I feed it my OPML files from rss2email? I have lots of feeds and this is the answer to freeing my inbox :)
It is absolutely beautiful.
-
@tg Thank you.
-
@tg Looks very good, I like it. And out-of-the-box Miniflux support ❤️ I recognized that swiping left in the settings to go back to the feed seems to make the view stuttering weirdly.
@_davd I'll check into this, sounds like something is redrawing
-
@tg iOS 18. Here’s short / full right, as an example.
@kevinrenskers that's a bug! thank you. noted and will be fixed
-

@hmelman ask them how to get in touch with them! My email is support@currentreader.app and I'd be delighted to integrate them.

@hmelman thank you! hope this works 🤞

I've been building an RSS reader for the past year. No unread counts, no inbox to clear. Just a river that flows at its own pace.
Today it's live on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I wrote about everything that went into it.
@tg just bought this, it's really interesting! a couple questions:
- do my settings sync between iphone and Mac? I tried setting a feed to "News" but then the setting didn't seem to carry over
- sometimes when I press "Edit Source" in the app it takes 5-10 seconds for the "edit" dialog to appear, is there any way I can speed it up?
- if i tagged a source as "news" is it normal that I see items from that source from 13 hours ago? -

@tg this seems very cool, though my RSS is about 70-80% plot-driven webcomics where I might let a pile of updates sit for weeks or months before diving in on a rainy day – I assume this isn't a great use for that? I might try splitting out all the more transient news feeds and gag-a-days into this though!

@tg are you thinking of a self hostable web version?
