Any server recs for my mom? She's a 70-something knitter and progressive living in New England, and she just quit Facebook for good.

She's into fiber art, yoga, science, progressive politics, and dachshunds. (yeah, I know. I have a cool mom.) Where should she find her home?

I've checked out the @FediTips guide, which is great. Just looking for more personal recommendations.

The more people I followed, the more boosts I saw for others to follow... @KarenDorman posts and boosts many of those topics, and I have all seen cool stuff on mastodon.art hope she has fun getting started!

Also she may like Friendica more than Mastodon as a fediverse option as it has functionality more similar to Facebook, and there's a few different server options there too that might work.

It might be a bit furry-heavy for your mom, but I'm having a lot of fun over here on Wafrn - the conversation format is much more satisfying. I never had Twitter and so I never got used to the way comment threads worked on Mastodon

A medium ton larger one will connect better and see more posts from the Fediverse.

Which means she see more posts of the knitting hastag etc

So find more knitters and crafters to follow, from across all instances.

Once they connect, you can see all their posts anyway.
