#Solarpunk is (among other things) an aesthetic, a literary genre and a movement. AFAIK it's a commonly held belief in the community that the 3 are connected; specifically that the first two (while of course also having value in themselves) motivate people to "join the movement", take action, enact change in the physical world.Do you agree with the premise? Have you experienced or heard about examples of this "solarpunk pipeline" happening?Curious about your takes - tell me!

MTV died. All the cool, unique artists like off “120 minutes” are now fighting the blandest algorithms imaginable. We wanted a place to watch weird stuff you can’t see on mainstream channels. So…. Fedi MTV goes live in ONE HOUR.https://tv.theindiebeat.fm/ #FediMTV #TIBtv #music #nowPlaying #FediTips

Ladder-experienced people and adjacent:I have been spending significant time on a ladder and exerting upward force in order to repair a ceiling. I tend to stand with the peak of the ladder behind me, and brace against the next step up.I have been getting truly epic bruises on the backs of my calves. Like, enough to make it painful to squat. Any advice? Does one just get used to it? Should I be wearing squishy leg warmers? Put shin guards on backwards?“Turn around, dingus” is understandable but would make it hard to access the corners.#askFedi #diy

I'm looking at the architecture of things like Fedora Silverblue, NixOS, and the Steam Deck. The concept of an immutable root filesystem with atomic updates seems like the technically correct way to do an OS. No more dependency hell, no more breaking the system with a bad sudo command. But the muscle memory of apt-get install / dnf install is hard to break. Containerizing everything (flatpak/distrobox) feels like a friction point for quick tasks. For those who daily drive an immutable distro: Was the learning curve worth the stability? Or is it still too much friction for a machine? 🤔#askfedi #linux #fedora #steam #steamdeck #NixOS #foss #opensource #programming #sysadmin
