My best friend is at a nursing home with a brain tumor. His family asked me to turn his TV into a picture frame when it is not in use. I'v set up an old Intel NUC with #opensuse and #Syncthing to maintain a folder with pictures to be displayed. Can anyone suggest a good #slideshow program?
It must support smooth transitions and automatic startup, and be able to detect if new content is added or removed from the folder. #linux #photography #recommendations -

Sure new tech is cool but you know what I find even cooler? Old computers equipped with lots of different ports. Case in point: my 2011 MacBook Pro that came with FireWire 400, FireWire800 and USB ports.
Yesterday I realized that my 2015 photo archive had a massive hole, with thousands of mobile photos missing.
I picked up an old drive (that can only be plugged in with FireWire cables) and there they were, all my old photos. I’m grateful that I kept my old MacBook around for these kind of tasks 🥹
The photos are now on a new USB drive and will be transferred to my main HD soon… and then backed up in 3 other locations (2 outside my house) because that’s how I roll 💁🏻♀️

@liberotoncello Rabin ci aveva in qualche modo provato, lo hanno ucciso.
Io però confido nei giovani (e Israele ha un'alta natalità e quindi una popolazione giovane), e quindi nel futuro, che non credano alle dottrine religiose integraliste ma abbiano una mentalità aperta.
Che poi in fondo in pace si vive meglio tutti, che non in uno stato grande territorialmente, ma in continuo stato di guerra e di pericolo.
Sono una inguaribile ottimista?
