    We've had a long spell of well above average temperatures, and no new snow in weeks. All about to change with a brief (?) deep freeze and snow this week...starting tomorrow?For me it's *always* about the light (and line, and texture!) but that may be even more true in winter when the colours are fewer and the lower sun gives dramatic light much of the day.#winter #nature #BorealForest #Alberta #Canada #GetOutside #sunshine #weather #photography #light

    Thousands of flights canceled as major winter storm bears down> More than 8,000 flights across the U.S. set to take off over the weekend have been canceled as a major storm expected to wreak havoc across much of the country bears down, threatening to knock out power for days and snarl major roadways.> Roughly 140 million people were under a winter storm warning from New Mexico to New England. The National Weather Service forecast warns of widespread heavy #snow and a band of catastrophic ice stretching from east Texas to North Carolina.> Forecasters say damage, especially in areas pounded by ice, could rival that of a hurricane.> By Friday night, the edge of the storm was sending freezing rain and sleet into parts of Texas while snow and sleet were falling in Oklahoma.     Exactly one year ago, on 30th December 2024, I laid the foundation of FediMeteo.I took a VM, installed FreeBSD, and set up the first jail to support Italy. The goal was to create a tool for my own use, support a few countries, and announce it.Unexpectedly, the enthusiasm was incredible.
