@liaizon Part of why the fediverse so appeals to me so much is that fedi *can* be made to coexist with nearly any given social form that people may choose to take part in. The state, commercial interests, even socially repressive cults and abusive family relationships can in theory exist within a federated model. They just need to have genuine public support and be robust to independent criticism.
It forces every person taking part, to realize that society is, and always has been *their own* responsibility. -

@liaizon and this BTW is why the platforms that compose the Fediverse can and are used also by fascists and their friends (Gab, โTruthโ Social, etc) yet those instances are NOT part of the Fediverse.
