I've made some progress on suspend with FreeBSD on my Thinkpad T14 gen2iTurns out there's a simple BIOS setting to enable S3 suspend—now it works!Sort of, that is: - I'm getting tons of errors from the intel wifi driver on resume, and have to do `service netif restart` to get it working again- The screen isn't locked on suspend; guess I have to add an rc.d script for that- For some reason, the shutdown button in Xfce doesn't shutdown anymore after I've resumed from suspend, but only logs me outBut I'm getting closer, and learning a lot in the progress. More debugging tomorrow!#FreeBSD #RunBSD #Thinkpad

@vermaden On Linux I have been running GoG games with wine-11 and ntsync in WoW64 mode with minigalaxy as launcher and most games were totally fine. No 32bit needed. I was surprised because GE-Proton-10 is quite buggy for me since they introduced that umu-launcher, and wine-11 just works fine now.I have to try Wine11-WoW in FreeBSD now, there is the minigalaxy launcher in ports and someone cooked a NTSync kernel module: https://github.com/XaeroVincent/FreeBSD-NTSync.Steam is still in a 32bit chroot...

@grahamperrin This feels like the wrong approach. The CRA has a sensible approach of decoupling products from open-source projects. If you sell a product then you have a load of obligations. If you have an open-source project then you can do whatever you want and the liabilities apply only to people who roll up your code. This means that Google and others who ship Android phones, for example, have obligations under the CRA, but the Linux kernel does not.But that’s really dodging the issue of whether this is a good idea at all, because market pressures will come back to the projects indirectly if everyone downstream has these requirements. Most consumer operating systems have some form of parental controls. I think the right approach for the things these laws are trying to do is require labelling for commercial content and provide OS-supported tooling for hiding certain kinds of content. We already have such labelling requirements for films, for example.

Just spent way too long wrestling with a 400-line pf.conf and asymmetrical routing. 😵‍💫The culprit? Classic rule ordering. A slightly too broad rule (with quick) near the top was happily catching traffic and creating states without the reply-to option before my intended rule could even look at it.The packets were flowing, just... not back the right way. Debugging that was significantly harder than I expected.I am officially logging off to take a nap. 💤#pf #PacketFilter #Networking #Sysadmin #FreeBSD #OpenBSD
