I'd made several small ones and then I decided to attempt this much larger version (over a foot in diameter I think) which I then gave colors through spot heat treating of the steel. Dear #maker lazyweb - is there such a thing as a "friction bearing"? Something like a regular ballrace bearing but which provides X amount of resistance before starting to move? I feel like there's a whole range of little mechanical doodads I could make if only I could add a measurable amount of "stay where I put it" to each joint. Something bidirectional so it couldn't just ratchet in one direction. I've done armature wire with ball-and-socket joints before, looking for other options.

@hackwimbledon ... it felt weird to sit in DJ's "spot" at the front, and be doing the event hosting (rather than being a heckler!), but it was great to have the core group back together. It is clear there's a desire to keep our #maker group together, sharing knowledge, ideas, and solutions with one another. I've been wanting a CO2 monitor for a long time. (As a virus monitoring proxy: my heart condition is most like a result of #COVID, and I'm fairly anxious to avoid getting it again.)I finally got around to ordering a sensor (SCD40) plus some CircuitPython microcontrollers, and got a basic monitor up and running in a few hours. Today I built storage for three bikes to hang vertically near the garage door.It's basically a single high shelf, secured to the wall with diagonal supports. The three bike hooks screw in to the underside of the shelf.I'll add skateboard storage in the space between the bikes.#maker
