Just a little reminder on littleFedi's efficiency The instance https://rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it - with my user @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it - has been running for over a month on a Raspberry Pi Zero W powered by NetBSD. @joel Nah, the laptop runs Linux. The ethernet device was not well supported on NetBSD.I've been very unlucky with the old laptops I have. All of them have some kind of hardware issues with NetBSD.So it's kvm+qemu. And the VMs run the services. Firewall included.

@psyhackological Yes. And FreeBSD can run Linux binaries, using the Linuxlator (linux64.ko) translation layer. Works perfectly 🙂

@stefano I love this. constraints can lead to amazing creativity and I feel the current ram problems are incredible fuel for more realizations like this.

@argv Web based, on FreeBSD? I'd say Sylve, but it's not as mature as Proxmox. Yet it's usable and already has a lot of nice features.I'd use it in my homelab, probably not in prod (yet)I still prefer, when possible, the "good old" vm-bhyve and BastilleBSD. Just a sh script, able to manage the entire lifecycle of the VM or jails. No overhead at all.
