Leeb when I'm in french. Laib in English.@Zenie thank you! Yes, it is different in French and I wish I had remembered that when making the poll.
When I say "Libre software" I think I always pronounce it "leeb". -
I pronounce it like "library" (US pronounciation, long "i"). That is how we pronounced it at the workplace I was at when I first started programming (mid-90's, California) and it stuck.

@chillicampari @mfeilner I believe your mean grab-hicks.

@mjj:
@chillicampari never believes me. The plural of moose should be meese, like goose and geese. But she opposes. Violently. Loudly. Says ugly things like "Markus."

@mjj @chillicampari one moose, two meese
seems logical and legit.

@chillicampari Could you please do the same poll for βsudoβ? Do people pronounce it like βpseudoβ or like βSue doβ?

@benjamingeer that's a really good one! You should make it (and the poll and linux hashtags are good with that) and I'll boost it.
(edit- whoops, that was the "poll" hashtag that I meant, not "poo" hashtag. I don't know what you would get back with that)

@chillicampari Done! I was tempted for a moment to try the poo hashtag. π

Yea. It's not just french either. Lots of languages have an I that sounds like ee.I think most people understood you. But it did certainly make me think about it.

@mfeilner I've been saying this for decades. At least now there are two of us!
-
@chillicampari it makes no sense even though I knew it was short for libraries

I use lib a in liberty because I'm not a native English speaker and in my language lib only has one pronunciation 8-D
