Good morning Fedi friends!
I just arrived at my in-laws’ where I only have my #RaspberryPi5 with #Ubuntu as my main computer for the rest of the week. This is my #Linux week*, yay 🐧

*technically 5 full days, but it’s the longest I will have a Linux system as my main computer. I’m excited!

@_elena What is important to remember in this situation is that if you feel like your computer is slow or incapable, then it's not because it is Linux, but because it's being run off of a glorified mobile processor.
I remember people complaining that $100 Android phones were bad compared to $1000 Apple phones. It's not the O/S, it's the hardware. :)

@_elena Pi 5 is quite fast for web browsing. Only bottleneck is the SD card, SSD is recommended way for better experience.

@efialto thanks! so far so good... the only sad thing is that Vivaldi was being glitchy so I had to re-install Firefox (sigh)

@_elena I am not very aware of the latests news on web browsers, what are the goods of Vivaldi? Or is it for the wrongdoings of Firefox lately (AI etc.)?
I may switch to Vivaldi and keep it even in the fight :)

@efialto Vivaldi has a built-in feature that blocks trackers and ads and they've taken a very public stance against AI. Plus they run a Fediverse instance.
Conversely, Firefox seems to want to put AI everywhere, its parent company bought and killed Pocket, they had a Fediverse instance that they discontinued... Needless to say I'm NOT a fan of Mozilla

@jan indeed. I'm not sure I will blog about it though... the SD card I'm using has seen quite a few life cycles... Ubuntu... then I wiped it to install Yunohost... then Debian... and now Ubuntu again.
I may invest in some extra microSD cards so I don't have to do all this...

Our logic is "the infrastructure is 'free to use' but you have to give something back", but we are remodeling our terms in a manner that considers the fact that people use Pages to host their personal webpages.
This requirement is enforced more strictly for the CI.

Am I deciding literally two days before November that maybe it's time to do Novel Month again? Maybe? Because I have literally hundreds of other more important things to do, and you know I'm going to avoid doing critically important things in a timely manner by any means necessary.
Also, still hilarious that creative people hate AI so much that promoting it literally killed NaNoWriMo instantly and people just kept on doing the thing under another name.

@Gina @jbouter The repository doesn't have a license + README file so it won't go through the auto-approval thing (but that's normal for websites); our only actual hard requirement would be e.g. providing blog posts under a Creative Commons license (or another license, that's just an example), which I couldn't establish.

@n0toose Awesome, thanks for you help! I wanted to fill in the form, but I currently don't have the required readme and license files (because it's just a personal website). Will that be a blocker? If so, I might do this all later and spin up a vps for now and push to codeberg from there.
