@NetscapeNavigator @Elischeva91 windows central says it's not real after all
https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/no-an-ai-focused-windows-12-is-not-coming-this-year-false-report-gets-the-facts-completely-wrong@punissuer @NetscapeNavigator @Elischeva91 Of course it isn't real....yet.
-
@Kingu I never said it is. 🤣
Not you, but the article said it :)
-
@NetscapeNavigator Apperently it's a scam; some other news sources are saying otherwise: https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/no-an-ai-focused-windows-12-is-not-coming-this-year-false-report-gets-the-facts-completely-wrong
Here is the problem with Windows Central — they’ve been known to kiss Microsoft’s ass.
Does anyone remember how they first said Windows 11 would not require TPM 2.0? Or how, when it was finally officially announced that TPM 2.0 was required, Windows Central tried to tell us how great this was for security?
Every other news source, from PC Magazine to PCWorld to ZDNet, is warning you about the future — you should listen.
Or you can be hopeful and wishful and trust Windows Central.

@NetscapeNavigator As an ex-journalist, I take everything with a grain of salt. I just checked ZDNet and PCMag briefly, and they have covered Windows 12 in commentary and prediction formats. If there's some verified source other than PC World, let me know.
Until then, I PRESUME this could be the options, but I don't take them as granted or press releases.
When the time comes, Linux will be the option on my main too. Until then, stripped down W11, no AI, etc.

Windows 12 is due to come out this year.
1) Your computer does not meet the system requirements. Again.
Why?
Your PC will need a dedicated NPU — a specialized processor designed to handle AI tasks. So, if you recently bought a new PC just to use Windows 11, Microsoft wants you to go shopping again.
2) It will finally, unfortunately, introduce a subscription model.
That's right — you read that correctly. They want you to pay and keep paying to use the computer you just bought. Technically, you won’t own your computer while Windows is installed.
NOW is the time to try Linux. Stop waiting. Don’t make excuses. Don’t even complain — we all knew this day was coming. Either try Linux, or admit you’re Microsoft’s little bitch.
Source? Yes, this is real.

@NetscapeNavigator This article was widely debunked and the source article seemed to be AI generated. I'm a Linux user who dumped Windows three years ago, but we need to be careful about spreading rumors.

@NetscapeNavigator They've been hyper critical of Microsoft for a while now, especially about AI. Regardless, their criticisms of the source are valid.
On a personal note, I'm ex MSFT, have lots of friends there, and no there is no advanced Windows 12 effort on the way, but I try not to use my own status as an authority.
The article makes no sense, and the points WC makes about it are accurate, it's reusing old info that is provably not related to Windows 12.

@NetscapeNavigator This appears to be disinfo. I am no fan of modern windows, but we cannot allow ourselves to fall into the disinfo void. It helps no one.

@NetscapeNavigator
Yes! This is the way - but currently, we can't *all* go there. Linux needs a LOT of work on #Accessibility.This needs to become a priority, pronto, because many folks who rely on assistive technologies are unable to use Linux effectively. That SUCKS.
If you are a #Linux #Dev, please consider taking on an #a11y side-project.
@sb Exactly that. But yeah, go on telling me I am microsofts Bitch because I cannot switch to Linux because of Accessibilityreasons. Ah, I am only making Excuses, ya know. @NetscapeNavigator said it

Great, so you're offending everyone who cannot, for one reason or another, switch to Linux. I'm not one of them, but I find the part about being "Microsoft's bitch" disgusting.For an example reason, search for "linux accessibility". From what I read on the Fediverse, Linux doesn't score too many points there.

@NetscapeNavigator And now PCWorld has retracted the article entirely.
