The thing that I'm proudest of in the workshop is this weird cupboard. The walls of the workshop are made from prefabricated PUF panels (polyurethane foam sandwiched between two thin corrugated sheets of steel, with W-profiled side edges that interlock with each other). Once you cut off an edge, it can no longer interlock, and is therefore effectively useless. We had some cut-off panels left over, and they form the sides of this cupboard. The material is infuriating to work with. Cutting it releases a cloud of foam particles, and all of the holding strength comes from the very thin sheet steel. (It's not really meant to carry any load, anyway, just to be screwed on to a welded steel framework to make walls.) But I managed to work within its limitations, and build something that carries a considerable weight in a very satisfying way. Thanks to extensive internal bracing, I can load up the cupboard without worrying (and it's held up all this weight for several months with no ill effects). I'm pleased that I was able to repurpose leftover material that was otherwise unusable.#diy #workshop #woodworking

Pulled huge lengths of coax cable out of the nooks and crannies of our house today. I have no need for it now or in the future. Two more cables disappear into a wall to destinations unknown, and another goes to a known place, but is not moving at all so may have to remain. One convoluted route is attractive for a future cat6 cable so I pulled a string through with that one and tagged it. I hate mystery wires. Can't imagine where these ones would go.#homeNetworking #DIY

Grmpf, not the best day. Excavator was in the way of something else, so I drove it out, decided to do some quick jobs to charge the battery up and then parked it outside the barn. Upon turning the key again, nothing at all, not even the solenoid clicking.Keyswitch ok, battery ok, so I had to trace wires (no diagram, although it's not complicated) until finding the culprit: A failed crimp on a ring terminal where the instrument wiring connects to the starter/battery plus.Easy fix, put everything back together, two hours down the drain. 😮‍💨 #Excavator #MiniExcavator #Repair #DIY #Homestead #Electrical #Troubleshooting

@alisynthesis @sparseMatrix kiwix does have support for other websites, including github.com/openzim/zimit / zimit.kiwix.org/#/ to scrape generic websites (with some limits)I don't see opensourceecology on library.kiwix.org/ , but the license looks compatible, and there is always github.com/openzim/zim-request…
