How did *you* actually learn #godot ?

How did *you* actually learn #godot ? I'm struggling to make the root understanding stick, I think due to outside cognitive load as I've a very difficult day job right now. I'm just not quite grokking it yet and I want to move to the point of being able to experiment without having to go back to learning the basics each time.

@sashabilton full disclosure:
I did the tutorials (2D and 3D) in the Godot Engine documentation 3 times.
Then I tried to do just the simplest Hello World.
And then I just tried to do "make lots of 3D spheres on the screen", then that again but different size and color for each. Again, but with fake gravity mechanics.
And somewhere along the way it finally clicked that I don't need 20 spheres but just one and how to instance it.
Besides the tutorials, there are other gems in them docs.

@afreytes I'm in awe of your discipline π but it definitely lights a little path for me, as I'm only here for 2D at the moment so maybe I just repeat 2D tutorials.

@sashabilton OK, that is a sound strategy.
But consider...
BEFORE Godot, I was ONLY doing 2D stuff. But once you grok how Godot works the 3D stuff becomes so so easy!
Specially if you look for premade free 3D assets like those from Kenney, Quaternius, and others.
If you're set on 2D, follow your path. But I would advice you to be open towards the possibility of 3D. Just keep the project small so it doesn't get out of your hands.

@afreytes 3D will come but I'm focused on a subtype of 4x strategy, so 2D works well for now. Obviously one day I'll write my Counter Strike but D&D classes vs monsters game, but not yet. People aren't ready to play Beholders in a FPS PvP π
