Uhm, it’s small, purple, and plastic. It'll be a talisman to ward off trouble.

Saw this sign in Blazin’ Boomers AT hiking video by Manchester, VT. A quick search finds more details:
"During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, New England was confronted by a far-reaching vampire panic.”

Not to entirely spoil the story, but as John Green would say, Everything is Tuberculosis.

    jerzone@techhub.socialundefined jerzone@techhub.social

On the hike the other day I saw something sticking out of the (dried) mud where there’d normally be a small stream. Popped it out and lugged home to clean up or toss out. The carrying case is in pretty bad shape, but the insides cleaned up nice enough. About 1lb and collapses into a 12" or so “tube" shape. Will put out on the curb w/free sign.
I find tents and hunting blinds on my hikes and bushwhacking. Someone buys it at a box store, sets it up for the season, gets bored an forgets about it, leaving it mouldering in the woods forever.

  • Went to flu/covid vaccine appointment at cvs:“there’s no appointment for you”oh?
    jerzone@techhub.socialundefined jerzone@techhub.social

Went to flu/covid vaccine appointment at cvs:
    “there’s no appointment for you”
oh? (should have read that summary page closer)
"we can do a walk-in” [much typing…] "says you already got the flu shot on 14th”
I cancelled that appt right after making it
    "insurance company shows they paid”

Realizing I’m not going to solve insurance issues here, I tell them I'll just pay for it. Got the shots, paid for flu, picked up pizza. Wonder what chances are of getting medicare to reimburse the flu shot?

    jerzone@techhub.socialundefined jerzone@techhub.social

Tuesday morning MTB ride with friends. Rain forecasted for 4am, then moved to 8am, then back and forth. We headed out at 7am onto bone dry, dusty trails. There may have been a single drop of rain halfway through. Great bike ride, still waiting on the rain.

The morning hike was up an old Class VI road that was probably once well traveled until they realized a half century or so ago that going *around* the mountain is better than over it! Jumped on the AT for 4 miles, a little road walking, then back via some trails I hadn't done before ... very up. “:^)

Weather Underground's new look (in dark mode). The "perpetual rain line” they sometimes get is an annoying bug, but not part of the UI changes.
Second image is current version for comparison (no dark mode available). It has a wind graph and more other bits scattered around page.
