Hello dear fediverse,I’m Osden, a visual artist (sculpture, installation, video, & more) deeply interested in human/non-human relationships, art as speculative fiction, more just futures, ecological responsibility, and place-responsive & community engaged art.
I’m masc-leaning & non-binary, pansexual; Mad & chronically ill; a uni prof in studio art; kinda wordy; and go by Sheri as a professional/public pseudonym.
Cycling, hiking, seed harvesting, seed bombs, DIY community projects, & harm reduction are some of my great loves. I’m nerdy about native plants & hide-tanning; forever in awe of nature.

OpenAI si è aggiudicata un contratto con il Dipartimento della Difesa (non era Guerra?, ndr) a di scapito della rivale Anthropic, approfittando di un accordo saltato quando il CEO del concorrente, Dario Amodei, aveva insistito per inserire nel contratto delle limitazioni all’uso della propria IA per armi completamente autonome e per la sorveglianza di massa sul territorio nazionale.
Amodei aveva spiegato le sue riserve sul contratto in un post sul blog pubblicato giovedì, affermando che la società non voleva che nessuna agenzia utilizzasse Claude per creare un quadro dettagliato e accurato della vita privata dei cittadini collegando grandi set di dati, il tutto senza la necessità di un mandato. Ha fatto riferimento all'acquisto da parte del governo statunitense di enormi set di dati relativi alle posizioni delle persone, alle abitudini di navigazione sul web e ad altre informazioni, tipicamente da broker di dati.
L'intelligenza artificiale (succedeva anche prima, ndr) potrebbe essere utilizzata per riunire tutte queste fonti di dati e trarre conclusioni su una determinata persona o su intere popolazioni, rappresentando una minaccia senza precedenti per la privacy.

i mean i know the tech-bro type, and ever since John Carmack revealed some profoundly bad takes I have been careful about putting people on a pedestal just due to technical prowess. people don't typically become my friend just because they are good engineers, i like to become friends with people that make me laugh, who can be real with me, vulnerable, frank, and generous with knowledge and experience.
the kind of qualities that don't typically make me think someone's ethical machinery is broken.

We report: mid-March, it still gets properly cold. It is freezing out here, especially when the sun is gone for long stretches of time. The wind is whipping our hair into our eyes while we watch bright green surge out of the ground; a strange colour after all these months.
