Morning hike and ran across a sluggish porcupine. Normally they're all like “talk to the butt!”, this one just stayed still except when we talked, then it moved head a little.
Post from earlier this year when the kid and I took train from Boston down to the Cape to ride. This is the bike car. Granted no one was exactly sure about the best way to use the provided strap. It was a chance for creative interpretation plus lots of room to experiment. Compare and contrast to Amtrak from DC to Philly.#BikeTooter #trains
Windy night and we lost power sometime before midnight after I'd fallen asleep. Rest of family had to go to bed early, which I’m sure was annoying. “:^) This morning with the kid:“I shut something off in your office because it was beeping.”The UPS?"Maybe”Why not shut door?"Because I could still hear it from the other side of the house.”I’m not exactly sure what he shut off, the UPS is running fine this morning.
I ran across the link for making a frame bag. Lots of good tips, including those in the 2017 update. They also have links to a number of tutorial videos.@ai6yr https://bikepacking.com/gear/how-to-make-a-bikepacking-framebag-krampus/#BikeTooter #BikePacking

28.7°F / -1.83°C at the moment, might dip a bit further before things start to warm up. As you can see from the graph it's been doing that more regularly this week. Checking my weather database it's been 240 days (March 4th) since we were below 0°F/-17.8°C and that's OK.#NHwx
Before the trip a friend suggested I rent a canal house for a night (around $120). I read somewhere that it has no electricity, with manual water pump and porta-potty outside, so I figured you'd be sleeping on an old wood floor inside. But looking at signs in front of a few of them they look nicely furnished. Probably a fun thing for a group of friends.#CandOCanal
Filled bird feeder when I got back and noticing a lot of the big birds moving in. Thing is when they take off, like this Blue Jay, the whole feeder is flung around, stray seeds flung off the tray.#birds
Been having dreams about the biking trip. Last night’s seemed to be about resupplying and keeping everything compact. You would think "compression bag” but it mostly consisted of me pointing out that you can’t ZIP compress real world things, only digital files.Dreams need a STOP button, so when they get into a mindless loop like that you can’t snap out of it.
There wasn't a huge variety of mushrooms, it seems like "pancake mushroom” (second photo) was the predominate one out there. They were growing in the thick leaf cover and looking a lot like fallen leaves in some cases. #Mushtodon #mushrooms
