May 2026 be the year I get into #FreeBSD.
My last #mysocalledsudolife action of 2025 is... downloading the FreeBSD handbook.
I was about to print it at my in-laws' but I'm not sure my father-in-law would appreciate the consumption of 935 sheets of paper. I also don't want to sacrifice a tree for it. So off it goes to my iPad 🤪

@elena I went FreeBSD -> Debian -> Ubuntu -> Debian again -> Arch (CachyOS mainly).
For me, it’s the typical “more than the destination, enjoy the ride”. 😁 -

@jpmens haha thank you JP! Considering all the self-hosting I managed to achieve in a month (original goal: 4 years) maybe I can get a grasp of FreeBSD sooner than later... maybe by end of April 2026 😉

@peteorrall hey there! bit of a delay here, as I'm just getting back on socials after a holiday break. it's a decent box, the processor itself is strong, very high ranking on single core performance, and 32 threads is a decent minimum per-socket for my workloads. my only desire with it would be more PCIe lanes - either via physical or through a PCIe retimer/redriver switch.

PS: prendo abbastanza regolarmente libri in biblioteca e sono rimasta un po' :/ quando in questo ho visto le scritte (a matita per fortuna!!) sulla scheda, la pagina era tutta consumata per le continue scritte e cancellature. Cioè è un libro che non utilizzerai solo "tu", viene consigliato più volte di fare una copia della scheda, è anche più comodo visto che avrai la tua scheda "dietro" quando leggerai i prossimi...
